There are many people who are not sure who to vote for. Some will not vote at all. I think it would be a good idea that after we elect the president and he is in for one year, we have another election. The election would be to decide if we keep him or boot him, and allow the losing candidate to take over for the next three years. We might see better results and we might actually get that president who is elected the first time, to do what he says he is going to do. What do you think?

An excellent idea to keep the elected candidate on his/her toes! Especially in the light of all the wonderful promises they make before they get elected !

I wonder how we get this to happen...

That is such a great idea! If that was in effect, I would be more likely to vote. As it is now, I'm afraid of making the wrong decision.

Interesting suggestion, though perhaps allowing the possibility of a recall after 2 years instead of 1 would be better. My main concern though is that this would allow for 'perpetual politics', the losing side manoevering to try to trigger a recall election every year / 2 years. Also, it would also mean that the President might be unwilling to take tough decisions as he would always be looking over his shoulder (and at the polls) to see if he was going to be recalled or not.

If he did that, he would not be very popular and would most likely lose his political career fast.
