snakes in Florida

I watched a TV show, National Geographic, I think, that showed what had happened in Florida due to the hurricanes and also pet releases. Snakes from South America and Africia had gotten loose in the Everglades and they love it, they are growing fast and mutiplying. Now they are invading the suburban housing arount the glades. Of course why not, a small dog, or house cat not to mention a small child,(non reported yet)is just what one of these 10+ foot long snakes wants for a meal. How you deal with this. It sounds really creepy to me.
