What kind of a job pays you a $7000 bonus when you start?

I was at the bank one time depositing a check and there was this girl in business attire who was also making a deposit and she was on the cell phone with her hubby. I over heard her talking about the latest bonus she got which was $20,000, then she said the bonus she got last year was $15,000. Then she said when she started the job, she received a $7000 bonus during that period. I couldn't help but wonder what the heck kind of a job does she have? Anyone know? That has to be something in sales/marketing, right?

A lot of manager jobs are bonus oriented. Most office jobs you can negotiate a starting bonus just to decide to work for them. Well, that may be put away with soon on the lower levels since there'll be plenty of desperate applicants. Those jobs don't have to be in sales and marketing. The higher the level the higher the bonus. Just think about the million dollar bonuses the CEOs get, the SVPs also get bonuses in the three digits, if they play their cards right. The further down, the lower the bonus will get. The company I used to work for gave out regular annual bonuses to everybody. I wasn't a manager but still got $5,000 just based on the salary I had. That bonus was similar to the Christmas bonus and managers received their manager's bonus on top of that.
