I have faced this problem myself and the remedy was to perform disk cleanup and ensure that your computer itself is not working slow. Many times the internet speed also slows down if the computers are at fault. For disk cleanup, do the following: Start - All programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup A system scan followed by disk cleanup should solve the problem.

You can use some softwares such as IDM (Internet Download Manager ) is one of the greatest download accelerator ,it enables you to use your maximum limit of your connection , by using a system depndeing on opening so many ports at one time ,it gives you the opportunity to download fasty,easly and by having a reprise function if in case the PC reboot or the connection break down , use it and tell me how do you find it ??

Downloads are a tricky lot and you can often good performance if you use download accelerators. However, download accelerators are very often sources of spyware especially the free ones, so you better beware of these too. Cheers!!

hai skipperland iam using internet download manager and getting more than 150 kbps.as you my internet connection is also of the speed 2 mbps.please check the connection link between your modem and pc and also check if you have any problem with your anti virus or anti spam softwares.and also check the telephone connection is working without any problems or not.

Looking at the earlier responses, I am sure you must have tried all the abovesaid softwares. But the first step should be to scan the system for virus and spyware. I would suggest Zone Alarm Professional Edition Software for this. I have been using it for over a year and I am more than satisfied with the results.

I live in Africa. The speed is damn slow here just around 12-14 Kb/s

I know your problem, and I have the same problem as well. I used to download with 120-130 kb per/second, but nowadays it's nothing anymore. I've contacted my provider, and they said that they limited the downloading speed. Because I have downloaded very much. But they don't see it as downloads, they automatically see the possibility that we are providing internet for our neihgbours as well..blablabla..anyway that wasn't the problem. The contract says, though you have unlimited access to the internet, your downloading speed may vary after a certain amount of downloaded GB. In my case it was 40, and I went ofcourse totally over it in a month..And then they automatically decreased in my case, my download speed from 130 KB, to 40 kb per/second.. So ask your provider if that's the source of your problem! Happy MyLotting!
