I realize that I've been slacking in this area, and I feel like a horrible wife. lol. I really do. I'm newly married, and I'm kind of young. So, I guess...well I don't know what I'm thinking. I guess maybe that we should cook for ourselves. We were both so busy, it was normal for us. But, I'm taking a break from working temporarily, and my husbands works so hard. He deserves a good meal every day. So, I need some ideas as to some dinners that I can make for him. I need meals that are simple, and can be made with a few ingredients, but taste really well. I know I'm going to do the boxed dinners a lot, but I just need some other ideas. I know that this will just make him love me even more. lol. Thanks so much.

Here's a meal my husband enjoys. But, it calls for a counter top grill like the George Foreman grilling machine or a grill machine from Sunbeam. You can get a large grill machine at a local pawn shop for less than $20 or pick up a smaller Sunbeam grill at the Walmart for about $30. Here goes. Put two (bone in) pork chops onto the grill. Sprinkle generously with black pepper. Close lid. Allow to grill for a few minutes. When almost done, sprinkle the top with Ramen beef spices. It's the little silver packet of spices you get when you buy beef Ramen noodles. Then close the lid and allow to finish cooking. The end results are so very delicious. And, I get rave reviews every time I make pork chops this way. You can serve with a fresh side salad and rolls. Or, add (low sodium) canned veggies or frozen veggies for side dishes. Serve with Italian style bread or bread sticks. My favorite part is that it takes almost no time at all to cook and it's very frugal!

That sounds really good! I usually have leftover Ramen spices as I only use about half of the packet when I make Ramen noodles. I was wondering, do you serve the pock chops with Ramen noodles as the side? I think that would be a great idea! (And economical to boot!)

When I was first married to my husband we used to eat out a lot. But when the children started showing up then we started to eat at home more often. I watch Food Network a lot of the time and get good ideas there. You could go to the Food Network site and look at Rachel Ray's meals in under 30 mintues. They are usually easy to prepare and might be good for beginners. Some very easy meals to make are: spaghetti and meatballs meatloaf tacos beef stew roast beef baked chicken As for the baked chicken if you do want to go for the box dinners then I recommend one that has stuffing and a sauce that goes over the chicken. I think it is Campbell's that makes that one. It is delicious and VERY easy to make. Practice makes perfect, just keep trying. Have a great day and happymyLotting!!!

Hi, I have some weekly menu ideas on my blog as well as some recipe ideas. I am a real simple cook, as we like simple tastes. Since it is the two of you, you could try easy things like sandwich wraps and homemade fries for dinner. We even have breakfast for dinner. You could make some eggs, top with bacon or ham and put it on a roll. Meatballs are easy to make and can be incorporated into a lot of meals. Meatball Subs, Spaghetti & Meatballs are a few dinners that you can make. Tacos are fun and super easy. Let's see...... hamburgers are easy and you can top them with cheese, bacon and lettuce, have your own "fast food night" Buy a crock pot and make easy "dump" recipes. Put chicken in the crock pot and "dump" some BBQ sauce on top and cook. You can make shredded BBQ chicken sandwiches from that.(recipe on my blog). Sign up for email newsletters from companies like Pillsbury, Betty Crocker and Kraft. ( I also have links to these sites on my blog) . They always send you great recipe ideas that are easy and they give you free coupons to download. Check out a blog called www.orgjunkie.com. They host a Menu Planning Monday blog carnival that attracts over 300 participants. That is roughly about 1500 meal ideas that you can check out, as most people usually post about five meals for the week. Writing out a menu plan for the week has helped me out tremendously. I do mine a little different than most. I just plan for 7 meals and I make sure that I have all the ingredients on hand for the week. It helps to have everything planned out. Good luck, it is hard at first. I have been married for 6 years and I thought I was doing great when I made Hamburger Helper when we were first married. I now bake from scratch and even make my own bread during the week. It takes time, patience and learning.
