What is the aim of education? Is it to improve knowledge or to get a job? Parents want their children to get admission into thebest of colleges notbecause teh quality of education is good there, but they can get a higher paying job after graduating from there. The aim of educationis job hunting.

You've already mentioned the main point. People go to school because its sort of mandatory for us and for the rest of the people to accept us and it is socially acceptable. There are only a few people who enter college or have some form of higher education just so they could increase their knowledge about something that they are passionate about. Though there are those lucky ones who's passions are paying high in our society today. As for the rest of us, we go into college in the hopes of landing a great high paying job. Unless you want to be one of those people who would prefer to create and provide jobs than apply for them.
