How do you reply for a discussion

Hello friends, When participating in discussion or when you are replying a discussion do you looking to the answers posted by other friends ? I usualy dont do that just because I dont want to change my openion. Usualy when you see other answers you may feel to change the one you supposed to write. But I do look into others answers once I post one myself. What do you think.
