Who else bought a house to sell it later on, so they can buy their dreamhouse?

Well, almost three years ago, I was pregnant of our youngest son and we were living in an appartment with two bedrooms: one really big, and the second really small. So small it couldn't have two babybeds in it. We looked around to find another place, but the one we really wanted was too expensive at the time. We want a country house, we're we could life self-sufficient for the biggest part. So, with our deadline we found a smaller home with a bit of work, that we could buy for a bargain. We went for it and we are doing the work ourselves: it didn't have a bathroom, so we put one in it, the kitchen wasn't much more than an area to cook so we made a very attractive kitchen. We know the house is worth almost double of what is was before and we are now saving for a downpayment on the house we really want, so when we buy that house we have a nice downpayment + the equity of this house. Anyone else did this and did it work out fine for you? Did you sell your house for the price you wanted it for?
