Do you usually take a look of the expiration date of the food products you buy?

I usually pick up products without taking glance on it. So, why is it important to know expiration dates and where it is intended for?

I sure do! But that's because I've learned my lesson. There's a great mom & pop grocery store near us - in walking distance if the weather is right. I like giving business to local merchants, but they're not very good at keeping up with inventory. I - and some of my neighbors - have had to take foods back for refunds because after we got them home we discovered the expiration dates had come and gone.

I agree with this it is always safer to read the date before you leave a store.

I am picky when it comes to food and I do look on expiration dates whenever I am buying foods. Stale foods are not good for us and nobody wants to buy stale foods. Expiration dates tells us how fresh the food is like in a bread. If you are going to buy a bread always check the expiration date since bread expires quickly. There are some stores who forgot their duty about checking on their shelves and still sell expired breads. It happened to me many times that I have to call the attention of an attendant or the manager just to inform them that they have expire bread all ready. We can never be too careful when it comes to our health.

Hi jho_anne, My husband goes food shopping and he does look at the ex[pirey dates, but I always tell hime that if it has not gone off it is ok to eat, as long as you keep the food fresh. Tamara

It's not safe to pick up products especially food wihout caring about the expiration date, which tells us how long can the products be kept well and how fresh they are. I was told some people got diarrhea because of the overdued food. So it's better to examine the date before buying a product.

I always look at the expiration date on dairy products. Especially yogurt and milk. The expiration date lets us know how fresh the product is.

I agree with you. I definitely check out the dairy products the most. Even eggs have them. But I check everything else too. I've actually bought a box of cereal before without checking; only to get home and find it expired. I now check almost everything.

It is good to check the expiration date on food products. You don't want to buy something that is old, out dated and possibly get sick.

that's a must. i think food products should be as fresh as possible. so the expiration date is very important. i also try to avoid those food products near the date or with a long guarantee period because they may contain too much antiseptic. the expiration date is usually on the package.
