Holidays: How many days off you got a year?

I thought about this discussion because the other day I was talking to a Mexican friend. She told me that in Mexico, when you start in a new job you only get like 8 days off a year, and then with experience etc you get more days until you become a let's say, senior employee. Things are very different here in Spain. The average amount of vacations time is a month. But depending on the activity and the company, it varies a little bit. Some people get 28 days off, which they can add to weekends to make an overall of like 40 days off a year. Other companies just give you 25 days which u gotta take in whole weeks, and then 3 or 4 free availability days. How is it like in your country? how many vacations days do you enjoy of?

I'm in the U.S., and working a job paid by Social Security, that does not recognzine holidays. And the company I work for doesn't pay vacation, well, unless maybe your staff rather than an aide.

My husband and I will get every day off this year, since he is retired, and I am on disability. He just retired (took early retirement because the poor guy's worked hard enough for long enough and deserves a break) and I'm legally blind. We have our writing to bring in an income, and we can do that whenever we want. Life is great for us.
