Worried about Oil Prices this Frosty Morning

Well when the sun came up this morning, my car was covered in frost, so I guess fall is really here now! The furnace has kicked on a couple of times, thankfully we put the storm windows on last Friday or it would probably run constantly. Usually I enjoy the coming of fall and winter, but this year I am stressing the cost of heating oil, more for my retired parents than for myself. When I was a kid everyone around us heated with wood and I always loved the smell in the air. Now most, especially my parents generation have switched to oil, and I worry (we have been told that heating oil could hit $7-$8 a gallon this winter) that too many of them won't be able to afford to heat their homes. My brother and sisters and I have agreed that if it becomes too bad we will pitch in to fill their oil tanks, but what about others without family close by? Do you heat with oil? How about your parents? Do you have a back up plan?
