Too many wars?

United States

Currently, the United States is involved in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. President Bush appears to be trying to start wars in North Korea and Iran as well. I feel that we should say enough is enough and stop picking fights with everyone in the world. How do you feel about this?

Respectfully, I feel like your comment is misguided and ill-informed. Bush is not trying to start wars in Iran or North Korea. If you know anything about those countries, they are both defying international demands and laws regarding nuclear weapons technology and the pursuit of those weapons. They cannot be allowed to do so, just as Adolf Hitler could not be allowed to keep conquering nations all over Europe. We did not start wars in the other nations either. If I remember, it was 9/11 that alerted us to the fact that the Taliban regime was responsible for harboring and funding the terror leader and group responsible for killing about 3,000 innocent people on our soil. So they got war in response. We never start wars for no reason. If we are attacked, or there is the threat of being attacked, either directly, or indirectly, then we may have to take action to defend ourselves. And, I might add, we do it in the most humane and responsible way possible, unlike many other nations who fight each other, including the terrorists we fight now.

I will have to disagree with you on what caused the war with Iraq. While I believe that Saddam needed to be removed, I have seen no evidence that Saddam was actually linked in any way to Osama bin Laden or Al Queda. The only information I have seen is the "news releases" issued by President Bush. Until I see actual evidence of "terrorist" acts planned against us by Iraq, I will have to believe that the war in Iraq was started for oil. Show me the evidence proving otherwise please. By the way, have you heard of anything happening in the search for bin Laden in the last two years? He planned the attacks, and nothing appears to happening there now. As for the situation in Iran and North Korea, I don't see why they have to follow the international laws regarding nuclear weapons technology if the United States of America doesn't. In this news article, Bush is quoted concerning US use of nuclear weapons: http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory?id=1911694 On the website for "Between the Lines" they are discussing Bush's nuclear weapons programs: "The Bush administration, in its drive for military superiority, has abandoned arms control treaties and embarked on deployment of a controversial missile defense system; proposed the development of new battlefield nuclear weapons and threatened to use nukes against non-nuclear states that may possess biological or chemical weapons. " Show me the evidence supporting your view, and I will admit that Bush is not a complete contradiction.
