End of the World (Mayan Calendar)

I have been hearing alot of talk about the world's goingto end in 2012 like the mayan calendar says. I'm really not too sure about that or what the actual meaning and history of the mayan calendar even is. Could someone inform me? Thankz

while also closely conjuncting the exact the center of the galaxy." Which is an insert from the text' explanantion!
