Have you ever spent a birthday alone?

Have you ever been alone on your birthday without friends or spouse? I'm lucky cause this year, I'm surrounded by my best friends at home (including my daughter and spouse) and my friends online at Mylot. But, there were a few years, when I was alone at birthday time. It was very sad. Have you ever had to spend your birthday alone? What did you do to treat yourself?

Yes I have quite a few times. When hubby was in the army, he'd be gone quite a bit to the field which is a training exercise for days, weeks or even months at a time. It didn't really bother me because it became just another day but I did go out to dinner to a favorite resturant where the waitresses became my friends and enjoyed the day then.

I spent our wedding anniversary this year alone LOL hubby was overseas for work. I have spent my birthday alone in the past. Can't quite remember when or what I did but I'm sure I treated myself by going shopping. :)

hi Once it happened that I celebrated my birthdate by my own in my intercollege. Because I have joined 10 days back before my birthday and I didnt told to any one at that time.So I celebrated myself. That was the first and the last time I celebrated by my own. Then after with me there are many friends and now with my husband.......

Oh, I really haven't thought into this in the past...Emm, I really didn't spend a birthday alone...When I was in my hometown, little and young, my parents celebrate my birthday for me, also with other relatives, friends. Now I am outside my hometown, and my husband takesover my parents duty I guess, haha...

I never had such an experience. But, if that happens, if I have to be alone, I really suggest to hear my favorite songs. Music is the strong holding in our life to many of them in the world. Music keeps our relations, friends and well wishers besides us.... thinking of them makes us to feel being with them.

Fortunately, all my birthdays I experienced were celebrated with my close friends and family members. Usually we celebrate my birth at home with various home-made delicious dishes and sweet gifts sent by the important people in my life.

Most certainly I have. The only treat I ever gave myself was I always asked for the day off from work! Otherwise I always had my best friend at the time and we did something when she had time. But really it's just another day. It would be a nicer day if I had the $$ to do something special beyond going out to dinner KWIM?

I've spent a few birthdays alone. I normally treat myself to dinner out and maybe a movie. I'm lucky that most of my birthdays with family. I hope that I will be able to share my birthday in December with my boyfriend as well.

I haven't spent birthdays alone but I do have spent my birthday very lonely but not alone. Just me and my cousin doing nothing just talking like any normal day. Then we went strolling and ate snacks. I have always had a little birthday party for my birthday but it was last year that just me and my cousin. The next day, a co-worker treated me to lunch for a belated birthday. Somehow the people at work forgot my birthday but they kept on saying to me happy birthday days before.

I have spent a couple of birthdays alone beecause everyone I know lives out of town. Last year I was in AZ for my birthday with my husband, and we were there for his birthday too. Now he is moving to canada soon, so we will be able to spend all of our birthdays together for the rest of our lives.

I have had a few birthdays alone because my mom or family never really cared to throw me a party and they would go out to the clubs or something like that I think the last time I actually had a birthday party was when I was turning 8 and I'm not 19, it is very sad one year I had to stay home, babysit and clean while my mom and sister went out for something my sister didn't really need, so yea your not alone.

I live at home, so technically, I've never spent a birthday alone. But I've never had a birthday party or gone out for my birthday. At my house, we hardly ever do anything special for any holiday or celebration. It makes me a little sad to be honest. Birthdays aren't a big deal to me, but I still I wish I had a really close couple of friends who'd come over or we'd go out for my birthday.

Oh, I agree with you- you see every one likes to be friends on some occasions and Birthday is one of them. I certainly would like to have a few friends to be with me to have some fun and enjoy the day- Cheers.

I have done that on many occasions as being a marketing professional I used to visit to distant place all the time and I never planned it well enough to stay back home on many such occasions. Yes this is really matter of sadness when there is no love one around while you need them most. Cheers.
