I want to rise to the occasion, but is it in my best interest?

I was brought up to be a caring individual, to help anyone that is in need and to be of service. I truly believe that we are all connected. To say the least, if I tried not ot help someone with my resources that was truly in need, my heart would convict me. Are we a dying breed? Is there anyone out there that can feel me? I can't do it all by myself, but I do understand that God has given unto me extra blessings to share with my sisters' and brothers', not of blood, but of circumstance. Who among you has never needed someone to extend kindness to you in your time of distress? We all need help at some instance in our lives. I would not want to be guilty of turning a deaf ear and a blind eye to someone who I have the means and ability to help. OK, lets flip the script! There is a serious trust factor involved. Who among you would like to be a victim of a scam by a con? No one! There are millions snaring good-willed, innocent people who truly want to help. Have you ever been burned when you tried to be a "Good Samaritan?" I believe that God requires me to just do the right thing and let Him take care of the justice and judgment of those who are using others to their own ill-gotten gain. We will reap what we have sown! God is in the blessing business and He will never run out of resources. So therefore, if you feel like... I just can't take anymore chances on mankind with my charity, remember this... The next person you truly could have helped, but said no to could have been God's way of supplying your needs and answering your prayers. Hey, He works in mysterious ways!! Just something to think about... Blessing... What say ye? Can I Help? We see people throughout our lives, Less fortunate ones some full of strife. The angry and downtrodden ones lost on they way, But, Can I Help? I ask today! The homeless, out young folk, the babies, our old, Lost in a world that has turned so cold. No feeling, no compassion, we look and we stare, But, Can I help? I want to do my share. To take up the burden of my fellowman. Do a little bit anything that I can. Giving of ourselves is what it's all about. Can I help? Yes, most certainly and without a doubt! Copyright © T.G. a/k/a Singleton Tate 1997

My sentiments exactly. I have found solace in helping others..even when I may have been in need myself. I have just learned recently that in order to give I need to be willing to receive help when I need it. Sometimes, in the past, I would overwhelm myself with going, going, doing, doing, for others so much that I neglect my own personal needs. Not having the faith to even ask God for help..relying totally on my own willpower and "goodness". Who do I think gave me the strength and ability to help others? I must have had the right foundation of faith...for even though I was not acknowleding Him..my God sustained me and when I was ready He showed me who the angels in my life were and are.

i guess every person has a heart to help, simply becoz every person has a need. but not all are really willing.. people have different gifts, you must have a gift of help, i salute you! with every help you extend, you, in your own way, may make a difference.. and may ispire others to do the same..

Hi bebeth: Thanks so much for weighing in on this important subject. I feel that we all have the gift of helping someone other than ourselves. I don't pride myself worth on what I have, nor who I am. I take great pride in knowing that I have touched somebody's life for the better. I am thankful for the opportunity to make a difference on any level. It really is one of the best feelings in the world. It's a high like no other... Have a blessed day!
