"1996" Ford Taurus Rear Coil Springs

I have a 1996 Ford Taurus. I know the rear coil springs need to be replaced. I jacked up the car and the one on the drivers side was in 4 pieces. My question is, is this something an amature person can do and if so how do I do it? I would be forever grateful for any help somebody can give me.
