Is it a sin to kill an enemy during the line of duty?

Suppose if you're a soldier and you happens to kill an enemy during the line of duty, so is that a sin as it is against the ten commandments written in the Bible (Exodus 20:1-17...you shall not murder) I find it hard to decide plis comment.

I guess when it is a matter of survival makes it rather acceptable i guess, I am not religious and I think of we humans as another animal species and we all have to survive so when their is a threat to that survival I guess we do what we have to do...as far as being a sin, I would say it is a sin not to protect the life you have been given...

iam also confused by this. after all there are many battles for the greater good in the Bible that God helped with. they were not always about religion either.
