while i am not huge on halloween because i am a christian, i have allowed my kids to go out and trick or treat (this year my 15 year old is too old and my 11 year old doesnt want to) and rather than run away from halloween, i have used to my advantage and handed out tracts to kids along with their candy... it seems that at some local schools in my area, they are intending cancelling any halloween parties because it interferes with OTHER religions! crazy eh?

LOL - That does make me laugh. At the school my kids are at, which is a Church of England school, they don't do anything to do with Halloween because it is a pagan ceremony. Fair enough I say. To be honest, originally being South African myself, Halloween isn't really big on my list of things you have to do either as it isn't something I grew up celebrating so I'm afraid my kids miss out all round (school and home) on this one. We also live in an area where the houses are far apart and there aren't too many local kids nearby so no trick or treaters will appear at our house either I'm afraid. Violetdreams

Yes it is crazy to think that we still live in a world that puts restrictions on others beliefs. Mind you I am sure that this is not the first time someone has tried to ban Halloween and it is still around. There will always be someone that doesn't like something no matter what is being discussed, it seems some humans are truly unable to understand the concept of tolerance

I think that is crazy! When I was in school we would put on a program for our parents for Christmas and always sing Christmas carols! Now they don't have any Christmas activities in the schools due to some religions, it is all holiday crafts and activities. To cancel Halloween is just sad. Kids look forward to having these celebrations in school.
