i'm looking for something rather simple for trimming a movie and just place some effects and some text. I don't want a fancy, exensive program. If you know a freeware one, i would appreciate. Thanks in advance

I would recommend Blaze media converter. Its is available for free download. With the help of this software its possible to edit audio and video files. Also you can covert these files to various other formats.

I would say, use either Vegas of Nero. I personally use Vegas, and it is fine for all the special effects I need to do.

Simple one? I only like those fancy ones that you listed: like Vegas or Adobe Premiere. I don't know Windows Movie Maker. Its simple effects haven't caught my attention.

I don't know any freeware softwares. But for editiong movies, Ulead visual studio is the best. you can download a trial version from their site. There is no difference between trail version and full version, except the timeout for trial version. Just check it now.

If you really want to edit the movie to absolute perfection i'll suggest you use Nero7, you can even add your own music on your movie.Try their trial version first to see if it suites you, but i'm not sure if all the features are available in trial versons
