Having a Bird

I have had some interest in having a bird since I was quite little. I really like small, colorful birds that sing. But, having absolutely no experience with pet birds, or for that matter I have never even touched a bird in my life, I have no idea if I really want a bird, or if I just like the idea of a bird. If you have a bird, what can you expect as far as chores related to that bird? If you go on vacation, is it easy to just take it to someone else to feed for a few days or do they get disoriented if they change locations? If at some point in the future I decided to get a bird, what are the best kinds of small songbirds to get? Are there any that might be tempting but I really should not get?

umm..let's see. Birds need vet care, they need food given to them daily (different kinds of food), they need their water changed at least once or twice a day, they need toys, they need time out of their cages to interact with humans daily, and they need love. Birds are the best, specially when you are their favorite person, it's very rewarding. I love birds!!..I have 4, a quaker, a macaw and 2 lovebirds. Good Luck!!
