One of the most exciting sporting events I've ever been to.

My son has been bugging my wife and I for awhile now to take him to a Nashville Predators game. By dumb luck, we happened to get 3 tickets for the 2008 season home opener here in Nashville. We begrudgingly took him to the game. It was AWESOME. I have never been to a sporting event where people rallied behind their team with so much energy as I saw at this game. It was nothing short of spectacular. The game itself was a lot of fun to watch...and there was a bunch of really great interaction between the mascots, cheerleaders and various events they had during the breaks between periods. My wife, son and myself had an absolutely awesome time and are already looking forward to our next game. And to think, I almost hesitated. I don't know how many of you out there have professional hockey near where you live, but if you do, I strongly encourage you to go get some tickets and check it out. I truly think you'll find it's every bit as much fun as a baseball or football game...you might even enjoy it more!

I don't know, from what I've seen it seems like a violent sport and unfortunately down here soccer dominates, we'd like to call it football but you know! And apart from that there's only rugby.

It can become a violent sport to be sure, but it's also very high energy and high paced, making it a lot of fun to watch. What part of the world are you from? I have the understanding that Rugby can get violent too, or is that incorrect?

South Africa and yes rugby can get quite violent(a rough tackle and a short scuffle) but Ice hockey and baseball are synonymous with fights and they really go at it, punching and kicking and hitting each other with hockey sticks (I know they have helmets)!Rugby players have little or no protection, strangely enough I love all three especially because of the violence, it's like a tribute to testosterone!
