How do you handle temper tantums?

My daughter just had another one of her tantrums.She usually only has them when she's overtired, so I can't complain too much. However, there is no talking to that child once she starts. She just screams and cries for an hour. I've tried everyting, and what works one time doesnt work another time. Sorry, just needed to vent a little.
