Do you think Sony PlayStation Portable is a failure?

I own 2 PSPs (one bricked/broken) but I must admit that I'm disappointed with Sony with the direction they are taking for the PSP. Some of the famous games which was announced during the launching of PSP, failed to materialize. One of them is GT Mobile from the Grand Turismo developer. God of Wars, Patapon and Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core are 3 very good games but other than that, there's not much good games to be mentioned here, especially in the past 12 months. The PSP scene has been a little bit quiet. True, Sony is trying to make it a "popular all in one mobile gadget" but is this really what most PSP buyers want? What do you think? Do you think PSP is a failure? If yes, why so?

I have yet to wait for it to totally be phased out of popularity before I could more or less say that its either a success or a failure. I mean, comparing the recognition that the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 got when it was still all the hype. So far, I only played a few games even when I have already got numerous titles available. As the hand held is named, 'portable' seems to provide that kind of entertainment which the word implies. Even Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII for me got me a little disappointed. Convenient, yeah like all other hand helds share when it comes to advantages. For competitive gaming, it does bring out the joy in playing but, for individual gaming, it seems that home consoles still are better. Still have to wait for something definite but, as of the moment, PSP is 'so-so' it seems..

Hmm that's why I do feel that NDS is actually more successful than PSP. :) FF7 Crisis Core is not that bad, in my opinion, though i would prefer to play like the original FF7. Competitive gaming is nice especially if you do that...in office. Hahhaa. I did that before, with my boss. :D Ah well, hope the new games will be good - kingdom hearts 2, dissidia, etc.

The games are all that matter as well as determine the hand held's popularity it seems.. yeah, the Final Fantasy VII rendered like that of Crisis Core.. up coming games should help on the hand held's popularity..

How I hope that PSP will have classic RPG games such as Dragon Quest =_= I've been waiting nearly forever for one good RPG to come to PSP. The only one I've played so far is Jeanne D'Arc. That's why I'm bit disappointed. Fighting games...tekken, and that's all. Nothing much as well. I think it can achieve more than the current level. Just that maybe the game is a bit too hard to develop :(
