Bad taste in my mouth - Why would you taste something that somebody else has already said was nasty?

Taste it! What makes people think you would want to share in something like that? I mean, really, if some one has just exclaimed that something tasted nasty, do they really think you are going to want to see for yourself? Have you ever done this to anyone? If so, why!? Have you ever had it done to you? Did you taste whatever it was? If so, WHY would you do that after you were just told it was nasty?

yeh i've done it lmao not a nasty taste as such but we used to have those sour gobstopper when we were younger and to be honest they really were vile but they were the inn thing and you were awesome if you could chew on it till the taste had gone especially when most people spat them out after the first taste. I would regularily offer them out to see who would take the challenge and wasn't a wuss.

I'll taste it! Within reason I will try pretty much anything once when it comes to food. I have done the same to others, yes. Maybe it's the humor in seeing their reaction. The one thing I have done in the past is to eat something disgusting or really, really spicy and then keep a straight face the whole time just so I can offer it to someone else. Then I get to share in the results! It may be unappreciated but damn it, it's FUNNY!

You are just wicked! *L* I don't know how you can take a bite of something, find it disgusting, and not make some kind of face.

I don't mind trying new things, really I don't. The thing that really gets me is the person takes a bite of whatever, makes a most awful face, then expects you to take a bite of it. I will try almost anything once, myself.

To answer your last question, because each person's taste preference is different? Maybe something is nasty to you, but I'd like it? Sounds like your son's been at it again!

No, he hasn't. I was thinking about a trip we took with P. She did that to me. I don't know what made her think I was going to eat it if she wasn't going to.

Haha that's funny! They do it so they can see YOUR face when they try it... probably so they can get a good laugh like I did. :) Maybe also to see how gullible you really are. My boyfriend does this to me all the time, he likes alot of foods that horrify me and he does it just to gross me out all the more...he thinks it's funny and can never get me to try. :)

I have never asked anyone to try something gross. I have been the one to be asked to try something gross though. I never learn either. If my partner tells me to try something then I usually do just to see how bad it really is. lol Most of the time it is pretty bad and I was just really curious.

I have a friend who will take a bite of something, make a gosh awful face, go, Ewwww!!! Taste this, it's really nasty! Then stick her fork in my face. I just look at her like she's lost her mind. If SHE'S not going to eat it, I sure as heck ain't!*L*

It's potty, but I suspect that most of us have done it at some time or other. I think that it is one of those areas where we need to ascertain for ourselves that something really is as awful as everyone says that it is. That said, if someone says that the milk is off, I believe them. But if it is a strange new food then I might just want a little taste. I might like it. My daughter cannot stand fish. I love it. The smell makes her gag. But not so long ago she had a pizza with anchovies on it. "What were those salty things?" she asked. I asked if she liked them and she said that she did. When I told her that they were fish she turned a very funny colour! Nowt so funny as folk!

If someone asks me to try something without telling me what it is, and I like it, that's not a problem. It's just when they make that face after tasting something that makes me a little leery of putting it in my own mouth.

Hey bo! I know what you mean! Isn't that so stupid! People will say that and then ask you if you want to taste it! And why would anyone in their right mind want to taste something after someone just says that something is nasty! I will never understand that particular statement, and the people who will go ahead and try the nasty thing either! Not me, no thanks!

Yeah, if somebody thinks food has gone bad, I am not going to taste it. I just tell them, If you think it's bad, throw it out!

I guess it is true. I just can't imagine trying something when someone is making the most awful face while eating it.*L*
