I'm tring to find a list of approved items and limits of item that can be mailed to California State Prion Inmates. Any information of items approved or where I could find the listing of items would be greatly appreciated

I think it depends on your relationship to the Prisoner... I don't know about Cali, but on the East coast usually the only thing you can mail to prisoners are letters and books, and the books have to come straight from the publishers or Amazon. You can also send them money so they can buy stuff, and you usually do it with money orders. But calling the jail is probably the easiest way to find out.

Thank you for your response. I'm in California and here were allowed to send packages of items they need. The problem is if the items aren't the approved items from the list they'll be sent back. So I need that list.

My boyfrind is locked up and asked me to send a few things to him but he didn't send the list of approved items. Without the list I run the risk of having the stuff sent back to me.

My husband works at a California State Prison and so many things are not allowed, because of the contraband that can be made out of so many items. Also, everything is checked and then checked again. I did find this website which may or may not help...it is the CDC (California Department of Corrections website). Start there, but you may be better off just calling the prison where he is located. Good luck. I am crossing my fingers that this is the first and only time that he will be in prison...it is not a good place to be. http://www.cdc.state.ca.us/index.html
