Both John McCain and Barak Obama have mentioned how they champion "clean coal". Coal is one of the most polluting fuels the world uses today and it destroys the environment just to extract it from the ground. I know in the 1990's measures were taken to clean the emmissions of coal power plants, but is clean coal so mcuh better for the environment than the way things used to be? Is it worth it economicaly to make coal cleaner or would it waste less money in the long run to research and develop new energy sources?
