#1 Love your enemies, while its a hard thing to do it does have self serving rewards, its better to spread love than hate and if someone does do evil on you it only drags you down by doing it back. #2 you must sell everything, while it would be hard to find anyone today who attains to this same level there are people who do dedicate their life to working with the poor and being charitable thats the reality of doing good not be greedy and wanting more, thinking that somehow its going to make you a better person if you have a bigger house or a newer car. #3 you should abandon your family, Was this a message for just the disciples or everyone? My feelings are they had to hold the standard so they had to hold them very high and without reproach. If you pick your family over doing what you know is right aren't you hurting them as well as yourself? Often we got caught in the cycle of thinking we can change others that we love, I have been there myself, the reality of it is that the only persons life we can change is our own and by doing that we just might change others. #4 You should cut off your hand, the idea isn't to go out and chop your hand off the idea is to control where sin comes from and that is in your heart, it forms by thought before it ever forms into actions, this is what is meant by laying the axe to the roots, to conquer sin doubts fear you have to do it in you mind. #5 You should drink poison, Ye sit says that and I do believe that it is possible for someone to unknowingly do it and live and it has happened, but it also says don't tempt the lord. there is a time and place for everything and doing it because someone told you to or to prove yourself is likely going to get you killed. Jesus was tempted by the devil and the devil used scripture to tempt him but he overcame by understanding of the scriptures. All and all I see this video as being no more than taking the scriptures out of context and doing the very same thing that the devil did to Jesus using the scriptures to try and trip someone up. But if you have a clear understanding of what the meaning is than you arent going to do these things literally. AS for the rest of the video and being afraid of a burning hell, I once again have to argue this is church doctrine not scriptures. I am less afraid of life now than I ever was as a non Christian and every day I press forward I become less afraid. Do I follow Christ example to the letter obviously not but the point is I am pressing forward to be better human being in my actions and how I treat others. So in closing I would have to say you aren't disobeying Jesus by not doing all these things literally but you are disobeying the devil who is trying to use scripture to make you trip.

This post hits the nail on the head simply because this is what Jesus said about this issue; Mat 7:21 - "Not every one that saith unto me,Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." Matthew 7:22 - "Many will say to me in that day,Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?" Matthew 7:23 - "And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
