How many rings before you answer the phone?

In our home, we answer the phone after 3 rings since our phone is far from our living room. However, we do have answering machine so if we cannot pick up the phone then answering machine will do the job.

we have call display here at our house but the phone has to ring twice before it registers, so i generally let it ring at least twice and if it is someone i dont want to talk to (ie a 1-800 number), i generally dont pick it up becuase it is usually someone wanting to sell me something!

If the baby is sleeping, I try to get it immediately when it rings. If everyone is awake in the house, I let it ring 2 or 3 times so the caller ID shows who is calling before I answer. If I don't wish to speak to whomever it is, I don't answer it at all.

I usually wait until the caller ID pops up. That takes about 1 and 1/2 to 2 rings. If it's a bill collector then we just let it ring and ring. I usually use my cell but with my unlimited long distance phone in the house we call back the bill collectors and family across the country. Just depends on who it is.

I don't really think about how many rings it takes me to answer, it just depends how close i am to the phone when it rings, if i am next to it it's probably only one ring, but if it is in another room then if might take 5 or 6 rings before i get to it! I know some people won't answer the phone until it has rung a certain number of times though! xxx

3 rings,I read somewhere that it makes you seem professional and busy!

Well,it depends.If I wait for someone's call,I will pick up to answer the phone immediately~lol~normally,I will look at the screen of my phone to see whose calling and thus four to five rings before my picking up~.Have a nice day~

In the office it is usually the second ring, at home it takes about 5-6 rings as i may not be in the room where the phone is.
