Studying Abroad

I am just starting to think about graduate school now, I'm a Junior this year, and I'm gathering information right now, thinking about where to apply. I have thought about studying abroad lately. I am a pianist, also play organ, and I intending to get my master's in performance. I have taken 2 years of German in college, and am desperately trying to keep it up. So I am thinking of either Germany or Austria, since I don't know any other languages besides English and German. For those of you who have studied abroad, how did you find the right school? More specifically, if you are a musician also, how did you find the right teacher? The most important thing for someone getting a performance degree is having the very best teacher possible, but I have very few resources. How did you find the right teacher?

I have studied abroad in China - I think everyone should study abroad if possible. However, my program was through my college so I didn't have to choose a program. I studied Mandarin Chinese in Tianjin. However, I also had a chance to study violin in Germany. I have an BA in Music. I went to Lawrence University and my violin teacher there accepted a position at Gutenberg University and all her students were welcome to join her there. Because of personal reasons, I could not go. Have you looked at Gutenberg University? I am surprised your college doesn't have more info. Do you have an advisor? They are usually helpful. Good luck. Sorry I am not so helpful - I have been out of the music loop for awhile.
