Does anyone have problems with their pug?

My husband and I have a pug that is 2 years old. She still has problems with going potty in the house. She was doing okay (not 100% housebroke, though) until I had my son. We can't leave her in the house for more than about an hour or she will go on the floor. At night, we keep her in a kennel so she won't potty, but during the day, we are at a loss with what to do. Does anybody have any suggestions?

If she's going to the bathroom frequently, it could be a bladder infection. You should talk to your vet. Even if you don't think it's a medical problem, it's always a good idea to rule it out. If it isn't medical and it is a behavioral problem, you should talk to a trainer or behavior specialist. You could also try using puppy pads indoors. That way if you can't take your dog out every hour, you can train her to go on the pad so that she doesn't make a mess.

Thanks for the response. We did try to use the puppy pads, but she would use them and then chew them up. So not only did I have to clean up the potty mess, I also had to pick up a shredded pad. I didn't consider a bladder infection, but I don't think that's the problem because she doesn't potty in the house EVERY time she is in....but the majority of the time she does. Also, she doesn't potty frequently like she would if she had a bladder infection. I really think that it is a behavior problem, not a physical problem. I don't have the money to hire a trainer or behavior specialist. I'm at a loss with what to do with her.

I would ask your vet as there may be an under laying problem for her like an infection or no bladder control and she may not be able to help herself other then that I am unsure as I haven't had that trouble with my little girl.
