Have any one lost a long lost friend you were searching for all your life? Well this happened to me a few days ago. In the early 70's, David was introduced to my family by his dad who was one of my dad's friends and he became a very close friend to us - more or less like a family member. My siblings and I were about the same age he was and we blended very well together - and he topped my parent's list of "their childrens' best friends". We would travel, party and go out, hang out and shared a lot of great times together. He was good fun to be around and all my other friends liked him because of his positive attitude. However, as times passed by and we were growing older, each od us drifted away from home and settled in different locations in the world. We tried our best to keep in touch with each other - but as it often happens, due to some reason, David lost in touch with us. My parents, siblings and I finally ended up in California and are living close to one another - and whenever we used to have family gatherings, we would talk of David and reminiscence the good old days with him. We were determined to locate him and probably meet up once again. My sister started to tirelessly contact people who may have known him from back home - and just a few days ago, she got a lead to David's step-brother who gave us David's sister- Diana's email address. We were overjoyed with this breakthrough and wrote to Diana enquiring about David. She gave us the most heartbreaking news. David had divorced some years ago and was living in Australia taking care of his aged mother until she died in 2005. Since David was very close to his mum, he was pining a lot for her and and a year later, in December 2006, David himself had died of a heart attack. Imagine the disappointment and the sadness this news brought us! We were all very heartbroken with this news. All we have now are those beautiful memories with David and we shall treasure everyone of them in his memory. David was a great friend and was considered a part of our family once - and so he will remain always in our hearts!

Our family, too, just experienced such a loss within the past month. One of my daughter's closest friends, who was also a part of our family for many years, passed away at the age of twenty-eight. To my husband and myself, it was like losing one of our own. No words can express what our families are feeling. My heart goes out to you and yours.
