The right education?

Are your kids getting a proper education? I know that in Canada they are not getting the same education as I had when I was a kid. They will pass any child even if they are failing, it is up to the parent to request for the child to repeat the grade. I have noticed that more kids now can not spell. I also live in a small town and I know that it is better in the small town than in the city. What is the school system like where you live?

my school system is pretty awesome, but then one could say I'm biased :P I'm homeschooled :D so YEah I like the way we roll :P school work is pretty easy, but still challenging, Nat and I are driven a lot by our own curiosity, but I have noticed a drop in school quality these days, I dont know what it is, might be they try to shove too many unneeded things in these days, plus they may not force a kid to repeat a grade, but they also dont try that hard to put kids into the next grade, as in if there is an 8th grader working at a 10th grade level, even if the parents REQUEST it, its really hard and some schools WONT allow it, to put the kid in the 10 grade when the kid earned it

I think the suburbs tend to have the best education systems but really even here where i live (northern va, suburb of dc) they pass kids without them actually passing. In the US the prob is that the new law passed by wonderful mr bush is the No child Left behind act which didnt help kids it actually just lowered standards.
