Being Frugal

How do you & your family choose to be frugal? What are your suggestions on how to make things last? I know most people do a lot of left overs. We cook in large quantities. Like spaghetti. We make a bunch & save some for lunch & then put some in the freezer. It saves time & money. I make the most I can from scratch & it really does save money in the end. I'm very interested in knowing how other people/families do it as well.

It really depends on what you want to be frugal with. Are you talking about shopping, cooking or just in general? I know that I watched a show just the other day about how this one family who definitely has a lot of children shop and do other things. One of the ways they shop like for shoes and that kind of thing is in thrift stores that way you are actually being kind of green in a way because of the stuff going into a landfill it is being reused and you can get some things for a really good price.

Sorry, I wasn't specific. I am more into knowing about grocery shopping & cooking. If you have any ideas, I would LOVE to hear them!

I make a grocery list and try to stick to it. Use coupons when I can.

I am doing the same as you are. Here I live with my husband only but yet the expenses are the same. We have to buy things like other families do because basically to cook we need the same ingredients. So we have decided not to buy so many types of food but just one or two but we buy it in large quantity so that we can buy it with bulk price which is much cheaper. For example I like buying chicken because it is the cheapest meat and then I will cook it with different recipes each time. I never throw away the leftovers but I keep it in the fridge and we will eat them until it is finished. I learned many recipes so that I am able to prepare different types of food with limited ingredients.
