Premature Ventricle Contractions = strange heartbeat

I was diagnosed with premature ventricle contractions yesterday. It pretty much means that the bottom of my heart doesn't beat in sync with the top part of my heart. It feels like my heart will have one REALLY strong (somewhat jarring) beat and then it will skip a beat. It started this past December, and it initally gave me a panic attach (I thought I was dying.) Well, fast-forward all these months, I'm having them more often (like quite a few times everyday,) and I haven't died yet; so I've decided they aren't so bad. BUT, I decided to just mention it to my Dr.,and now I have to go in for an EKG study to rule out anything more serious. He said it's likely benign, but they need to rule out other things like arrhythmias. He also told me that these were fairly common. So, my question is does anyone else have PVCs, and have they given you any troubles? Do you have to take any medication for them?
