Do you (or someone you know) smack when eating?

I used to smack when eating as a young child. For those that are not familiar with the term smack (it simply means to make noise while you're eating, using by habit of chewing your food partically with your mouth open) As a young child it was a subconscious thing that I wasn't aware of until one of my older brothers pointed it out to me. I don't anymore and I've pointed it out to my own children who used to do it as well. How about you, do you find it annoying when people smack while eating? Do you even notice other people smacking? If you haven't noticed before, and you noticed within the next few days, please respond and let us know do you think it is irrating to hear?

It is really bad how us kids can say all sorts of things as we are young. I bet that kid didn't like the mistreatment by the other children as well.

I don't think I do. I think I'm pretty quiet when eating. However, my mother smacks her lips when eating and sometimes it just drives me crazy. I do end up pointing it out to her sometimes and I think that frustrates her sometimes, but really, I hate being somewhere and trying to eat and hearing nothing but 'smack, smack, smack' everytime she chews. Other than my mother, I don't know anyone else that smacks their lips when eating.

I always thought it was just people chewing their food like cows, with their mouths open. I always tell my kids to close their mouths when chewing. It's so annoying and disgusting to see anyone eat with their mouths open. Not to mention bad manners.

MY MOTHER WOULD HAVE SMACKED US AROUND THE HEAD IF WE MADE ANY NOISE WHEN EATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe it is a culture thing. I grew up in the U.K.where it was considered disgusting to make any noise when eating. I can't stand it myself when people make animal noises when eating and I am already training my two year old twin grandchildren to close their moths whilst eating.(They live with me) Mother would be proud of me!
