My son is going on 3 years old and was born with bi-lateral cleft lip and palate. He has had the major surgery's already and now just has a few touch ups to go. I can not get him to eat anything except some ceral, oatmeal, peanut butter, freah baked cookies. He needs to have more vitamins, but he won't eat any kind I buy. The doctors say as long as he is not losing weight then he is fine, but what about bone loss or whatever? How do I encourage him to eat other things with out wasting food?

Maybe you can get some supplement pills for children, crush them and mix in the food that he eats. Kind a sneaky way, but we do what we got to do sometimes.

oohhh, as a mother its really difficult to see our baby in a complicated situation but then we need to cope with that! well, fruits can really help him! ask him also to participate in preparing his food. like to make a fresh shake with his help! hope it can encourage him! God bless!

maybe your child isn't used to it after the surgery. he feels different now so it would take some time til he gets used to eating foods. also maybe it still is painful for him. maybe you can try to observe him. also you can try to feed him some fruits so he can have vitamins.
