Barack Obama for President of the US -- PLEASE READ

United States

Before you decide, if you haven't voted yet, please take a few moments to consider who this man is and what he stands for. Read his first autobiography. In it he talks about being "drawn" to socialism, etc. He talks about his CHOICE of friends: he particularly made a point to be friends with the radicals, socialist, foreign students (with socialist ideals), activists, etc. And if he was "wise" enough to so carefully choose the people he hung out with at such a young age, do you REALLY think that he STOPPED being so careful in choosing his associates as an adult? People are misunderstanding the point about Obama's so called "shady associations". It's NOT that people who question his associations believe Obama is going to start bombing buildings. The problem is that people choose friends and associations based on similar BELIEFS. If you look at Obama's associations, you'll notice they are ALL either someone with similar ideologies or they are someone who could help Obama get ahead -- or both. Read his book. He chooses those he associates with carefully. Now look at who he associates with. A person who does NOT agree with your ideology does NOT host a function to introduce you to the political scene and launch your political career. Why would Ayers have hosted the launch of Obama's political career if Obama didn't share his beliefs -- that would be like Pres Bush endorsing Hillary Clinton? But when it is Obama and Ayers, people excuse it. Ayers is an older man now. He doesn't bomb buildings any more and neither does his wife. But they are people who obviously were CAPABLE of such violence. Are YOU capable of such things if your life is not immediately in danger? I doubt you are. I'm NOT. And that is what Sarah Palin meant when she said his friends are not like you and me, not America. Also, Ayers, Wright, Davis, Flager, and the rest have NOT reversed their beliefs; they still believe the same things. It has always been acceptable and recommended if you want to KNOW who someone is, LOOK at their friends and associates. Why do we suddenly throw that good advice in the toilet for Obama, a man who doesn't even have a record to stand on? It's not like he has a record of achievements, accomplishments, legislation -- something that we could point to and say, look, this is who he really is. NO, we only have his word that he wants "change". That is the same way that Jimmy Carter was elected! The people were angry with the Nixon people and therefore with the Republicans, and Jimmy Carter came along and sounds so nice (he IS a good man, just by most accounts, NOT a good President) and promised CHANGE. By most accounts he did far more HARM than good in his short time in office. It was a crazy and dangerous time when Carter was elected too -- hostage situations, hijackings. Probably a lot of you don't remember/weren't alive; go back and LOOK IT UP. What happens when Al Quaida attacks again? Jimmy Carter worsened the situation back then. What will Obama do, especially with his beliefs being so FIRMLY leaning SOCIALIST, even according to his OWN BOOK. Will he PROTECT the US, or will he decide to let us be devoured in order to facilitate his ultimate CHANGE - socialism? GO to Dictionary.com and look up the word SOCIALISM. Please, please, READ EVERY SINGLE DEFINITION. They all sound bad for America, but some are more clear than others. For example, the one that states it is that "stage" of government BETWEEN capitalism and COMMUNISM. Do a little history searching and you will also find that no socialist society has EVER flourished. It SOUNDS good, but in practice it just doesn't work. I realize some of you like socialism, and understand Obama's real message. That's fine. Vote for him. But to those who are wanting the first African American President (would be nice, yes, BUT don't you want that first black President to be a man of character with beliefs similar to those of most Americans?) or those who just want CHANGE, just want not BUSH. PLEASE, think and study this a little. Are you about to give away our nation, our Constitution, or way of life, based on a promise of CHANGE with more silences than details regarding HOW that change will happen, and what that change will LOOK LIKE? I'm just asking: VOTE WITH YOUR EYES WIDE OPEN.

I am SO in agreement with this discussion, writer and commentary. We are going to vote with our "Eyes Wide Shut" if we do not heed this advice. Obama is a smooth operator and not the one to lead this country!! Furthermore, much is coming out about his unscrupulously questionable tactics, or at least his supporters, campaigners. He is NOT the CHANGE we need........... America will be sorry. Think about the completely honest, proven, heroic deeds of McCain and compare to the unproven questionable record of Obama. I have no problem with his being black.......I have a problem with what he stands for!

His plans don't make sense. What president reacted to a severe recession by raising taxes -- on ANYBODY?? JFK CUT taxes, as everyone else I can remember did. Obama has RECOGNIZED that it will NOT help us right now, but it is "WORTH IT" in order to spread the wealth. WORTH IT??? To WHOM?????

I have the same opinion - it doesn't matter to me whether a candidate is male/female or what color their skin is/isn't - it matters to me what they're going to after they're elected and I don't believe Obama will be capable of doing what American needs right now.

OMG I just read this book and I was shocked. You have just put so much into so little space. I have been saying all along that there is more to this election than "Change". Why did he say he did not have enough experience to run for this office, then change his mind and do it anyway? Who was behind that? Your post is really an eye opener for some of us who were already in doubt about Obama. Not because of his mixed race but because of his beliefs and how he see things. It also shows how hate to another race can harden the heart. Michell has already let it be known that she hates whites and he has not denied that he agrees with her. I can't see how someone can hold so much hate in their heart when they have been given every opportunity and more, just like everyone else in the USA. Why can't they let the past remain in the past. Yes you can pretty much judge a person by the company they keep. And he has chosen some pretty bad friends. As well as a white hating wife. Now that is what I call racism. Then again he did admit he hated having to admit he was half white. Read the book and then think about what his change may be. I don't think you will like it.

Thanks for your response! I hope people will listen and THINK! I know Michelle Obama is quite the racist, but I had not heard her say it in so many words -- do you have link to that, or link to Obama's saying he hates admitting he's half white (which is VERY obvious when he talks of his white relatives). Some people in this country are too young and used to the way things are now. They think we are being racist to talk this way. Others are older and remember the way things were, but they (white ones) tend to feel it is racist too, because ANYTHING you say about a black person is racist, if you're white -- according to them. But it is NOT racist to make an accurate observation, or to listen to the actual words and realize the man is WRONG!!! My husband is a black man from Africa, just like Obama's father. My daughter is biracial. I have NOTHING against Obama's race, or racial mix, obviously. I have EVERYTHING against his misrepresentation of himself, his arrogance in "knowing" that the American people will not bother to look into his background or even read his book, so he can misrepresent his beliefs -- until he is in office, with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, and Barney Frank flanking him -- they will turn this country on end. I'm BEGGING you people, if you don't believe us, READ HIS BOOK.

It is pretty frightening. I find it interesting that Obama expects everyone to ignore such and vote for him - but evidently there are plenty of people out there who haven't done their homework!

You have said it all. It should be about character. It should be about change that is for us and in obedience to God. It should be positive change or how can it help us?

Thanks for posting. Yes, just any change WILL NOT help us. SOME change CAN make things WORSE!! The definition of 'freedom' is getting narrower and narrower, along with our actual freedoms.

If a person can't keep "good company" outside of the Presidency, why would we think that he would change that aspect once he is elected. Who will be the next person that he lets influence him - and what impact will that have on our country?

Too many people have no clue about the actual issues in this race. All they have to go on is what the 0bama propaganda centers ... err... the MSM has to say in their support of him. It is too bad that most people can't be bothered to actually find out about the issues or who they are voting for.

Unfortunately, too many people prefer to "have their ears tickled" with pretty speech and empty promises, rather than opening their ears to hear what these men are REALLY all about.

I notice that Obama always has some rationalization for why he is involved with these people - regardless of his excuses, he was still involved with them and that speaks volumes!

Yes, you're right. I heard one reporter say, I know people in business and politics who will not even SHAKE HANDS with Bill Ayers! On principle. Principles we need to return to.

I was always taught that you didn't associate with "those kind of people" because it reflects badly on you personally. Even if you don't do whatever it is that they are doing, it's sometimes still "guilt by association".
