Raw Meat Diet for Dogs

Do any of y'all feed your dog(s) a raw meat diet? My cousin is a wholistic and nutritional health counselor and also has many canine patients. She highly recommends this and feeds it to her own dogs. She says her dogs have healthy, shiny coats, no fleas, tons of energy, clean teeth, etc. Apparently there has to be a mix of raw meat and bone, which I assume is ground. I asked her more about it but she wasn't very specific. I tried to find info on the net, but this seems to be a pretty hot topic and no two people seemed to agree. I would really like to know more about it. Thanks!!

I hear that you have to watch out which meats you feed your dog raw, because some are more likely to give him diseases. In fact, you have to do your research first. But it is probably best to at least cook it a bit. Raw meat does carry disease and it can make you sick if you are around it, but the dog can normally handle it. He can get worms, though.

That was my first reaction, too. Salmonella, e-coli and others must get dogs sick if they can make people sick. That was one of the con arguments I read on the net too. But I haven't read anything on which meats to give and how to prepare them. Thanks for responding!!
