Islam sees women, wheather single or married,as an individual,in her own right.with the right to own and despose her property and earnings.A marriage dowry is given by the groom to the bride, for her own personal use.she can use her familys name rather than taking her husbands name. The Messenger of God{peace b upon him}said: "The most perfect in faith are those who are best in manners and kindest to their wives"

This all sounds great but is not maybe better to just share everything 50/50 then you are basicaly stating your are bolth equal and bolth wothy and capale. Might even go as far to say that maybe this puts the wrong energy out from the start. I apologize for stepping out of my area I am not and know not of the way. Love rules. :)

As Islam expects every human being to get married, it is then clear that the concerned woman who has got half the share which her brothers' got is entitled to half (or full, as the case may be)share from her husband! In the end, the woman is the winner - she has got more than what her brothers' got!

So women can VOTE in Islamic countries ? Cool :D Cause I was under the impression that they are forced to live segregated from men under ridiculous conditions, wear face masks at all times when in public, require a male approval in writing for most things that deal with the authorities, and are most definitely NOT free to travel where and as they please. But if you say that Islam treats females fairly, I'm OK with it. Peace :)

Women in Saudi Arabia are not allowed to drive. Kuwaiti women just won the right to vote 2 years ago. How's that for equality? In may countries women are segregated from men at weddings, schools and such and are not allowed to travel without a husband's approval. You're absolutely right

Yes, the dowry during marriage and the right to choose whom they want to marry are the only two things which I like about the way Islam treats women. Other than that, its all an eyewash. How is using the maternal name going to empower women? In all legal matters, the witness of two women is equivalent to one man, talaq is something which forces women to tolerate and keep mum on many domestic injustices, four wives in today’s age!
