How Does This Site Work?

I understand the basics of the site. If you start a new thread or reply to an open thread then you receive payment. But I could not find how much is earned anywhere. This is a lot of fun, but I could use a few extra bucks. Yet all I earned yesterday was $.73 ???? I posted close to 50 times. Could someone please explain how this works? Thanks!!!!
