If you fall for someone else, would you tell or lie to your mate?

When you realize that you are falling for someone else, will you discuss it with your mate to help you from contiously falling for that someone else, even if it means hurting his/her feelings? Or will you keep it a secret from your mate to keep him/her from being hurt?
