The last time I saw Duran Duran live was in 1984. 1984 That was the last time they came to my state and did a show. I have been waiting for them to return sooooo bad that I'm borderline depressed about not being able to see them again because I can't afford to chase this band around the world to see their concerts! Well I found out they will be playing 2 1/2 hours away from where I live in December! December is the worst possible time of the year for me to be able to afford anything for myself because my money goes to my family's Christmas . Why couldn't Duran Duran come back to my state around tax return time! ..LOL.. And what also sucks is that the concert tickets are OUTRAGEOUS in price now days. No tickets are under $100 in price anymore ( well it seems like it). Why are concert tickets so expensive now? I remember when concert tickets for popular bands went for $15!

Wow? $15 for tickets for popular bands? I don't remember tickets being that reasonable! I think that the prices now are higher because everything else is more expensive. After all, we have to keep those rock stars in the lifestyle that they are accustomed to. LOL

Yeah in the early to mid 1980's I remember concert tickets not being over $20. I was a avid concert addict back then. I actually got a chance see a lot of bands for free back then also. Then In the 90's tickets went up to $20-$50 dollars sometimes a bit more( depending which band it was, but I think Prince always charged $300 per ticket though!..LOL).Now It's way too much to even see my favorite bands! Sorry rock stars, you won't be seeing any money from me this year *sadly* :(

Yup! I saw Jogn Cougar Mellencamp back in the late 80's and tickets were like $30 each only. Plus back then there wasn't a handling fee tacked on of like $10 either. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Well you learn something new everyday. I wasn't aware of this new handling fee for concert tickets. It just seems like over the past 10-7 years concert tickets are crazy high in price and I don't know how people can afford to see their favorite groups anymore when concert tickets are more or as much as a monthly car payment ..

Hi, The prices are ridiculous I agree, the last major band I went to see was Greenday ay Milton Keynes Bowl, that was an all day event and there were many really good support bands too but I think tickets were well over £100. My daughters tend to go to three day event festivals as there are usually many bands and although expensive work out more enconomical as the type they go too are mainly the bands they would love to see. The last one they went to was V Festival. As Duran Duran are coming to your area near Christmas, why not talk to the family and get them to club together to buy ticket as an early pressie for you as it would be a shame to miss them especially after not seeing them since 1984. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Ellie, I appreciate your thoughtful suggestion but If I go to Duran Duran as a gift everyone else would want to go also, and everyone else don't have to money to attend as well. ( everyone else is my husband and my best friend's and my best friends friend etc..LOL) I already have hinted to some of my friends about it as a Christmas gift and one of them said " I can't even afford to go, even the crap seats are $100 dollars and anything better is $100 +:( ...Also the tickets are close to being sold out as we speak.. This is just a matter of rotten timing because Duran Duran is coming at a bad time of year for me and everyone else I know because our money is tied up already, but like I mentioned above, if they came around tax-return time I would have no problem attending, or even if they came when it wasn't so close to Christmas..Concert tickets are crazy expensive anymore.:(

It is alldue to the cost of travel actually. Gas and help costs have risen so much in the years. The only place to see concerts for under $100 are the casinos. And some of them even exceed $100. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hey, I saw Stevie Nicks back in the 80's, but I think you had better seats then me, I was on the right side, second level in the middle somewhere..LOL.. I believe the tickets for that Stevie Nicks show went for $17-$18 dollars. I usually save money for a year but it can't go to concert tickets, it goes to my son's birthday and christmas. I'm so selfless anymore since I have become a mom I don't even go to concerts now not because my son get's my money now. The last show I went to was OhGr and I was 6 months pregnant with my boy when I went to that show ( almost 7 years ago).Yikes!

Wow! I just love Duran Duran. They are my favorite band. I can't afford to see them this time they are on tour because of the economy, etc. I don't know why the tickets are so expensive nowadays, I guess everything rises with inflation. You are lucky that you got to see the original 5 members of Duran Duran live. I never went to any concerts before 1987. I had always wanted to see them but by the time I had enough money they were not really together any more. I can't believe that tickets used to be $15? I know they were not that cheap when I started going. I think they were around $50 or $60 at that time. The most I have ever paid is $150 for Elton John & Billy Joel when they toured together. It was too expensive for me, but then again it was both of them. It was a great show but it was more than I could really afford. Have a nice day and happy myLotting!!!

Hello fellow Duranie! :) I started attending concerts in 1983( and I had to do a lot of begging and pleading to my mom to let me go then, because she thought I was too young to go).I think the cost of tickets depends on the venue they play at also. I always remembered not having to pay over $20 dollars to see a show in the 80's. But at the same time I use to get a bunch of free concert tickets from a local radio station and I'm so thankful now that I got a chance to see a lot of these bands then because now they are wanting people to now pay $100+ tickets to see them now..Duran Duran was one I had to pay for back then and it was for 15 dollars I believe, or $14.99.. Something like that. But when there are two or more main popular headliner bands/artist on tour together the tickets are usually A LOT more ( like the Elton John-Billy Joel concert you went to). I also use to attend shows for a lot of non-mainstream bands and the tickets were still cheap in price.Yeah I was lucky to see Duran Duran back in the fab five days, but I would love to see them again so much (even if Andy is missing.) This recession is really starting to tick me off! :(

I know what you mean, I've been waiting for NIne Inch Nails to come to my area. I saw them about 14 years ago and I remember oaying maybe $40 for them. They were recently in my mom's state, only 15 minutes away from her, I thought great, I'll make it a vacation to see my mom also. Nope, The tickets were over $300. I guess I'll just have to listen to cd's and imagine them live.

NIN is another show I was beating myself over the head with recently. NIN is one of my all time favorites and they came to town here twice this year and because the tickets were soooooooooo much I couldn't attend neither of those shows. I was supose to see NIN back in the mid 90's and a so-called good friend of mine happily volunteer to charge my NIN ticket to his credit card because he said he could get us some good seats and insisted that he wanted to do this for me and I agreed and told him to go ahead and do it. Well the day before the concert I went to go give him the money for my ticket and pick it up, he told me he canceled the tickets because he ordered a lot for his friends and they all canceled/changed there mind to go and so out of anger he canceled all of the tickets. Oh boy I was soooo mad! , Then back in 1989 NIN played a little hole in a wall club here in my city and me and my best friend were planing on going but he did something dumb and his mom got mad at him & took his car key's away and hid them and we couldn't go at the last minute because he couldn't get his car key's back.... So I guess It's never meant for me to see NIN.. But I did get to see Marilyn Manson in the mid 90's. So I guess that's as close to Trent I'll ever get!..LOL

Hi cassandralynn, I am so sorry that about the price of concert tickets bing so high and in December, the only I can think of that you can do is tell everyon what you want to do and ask them to give you the money instead of presents and that you have to have it for the concert, that is if you can do that you will have your Christams early. Today I got some unfortunate news regarding my family's finances , So it's very doubtful now that I will get Duran Duran tickets as a gift from my husband. Not unless some good fortune happens for use before December. Also when I checked back at the ticket site the Duran Duran concert tickets look almost sold out.. But I'll try to think of something or a way to try to go.. Thanks anyway for your suggestion Tamara :)

The unfortunate truth is that tickets are expensive because people are willing to pay that much. If people stopped buying tickets, prices would drop. It's the same for every aspect of live entertainment. Sports, theater, concerts... It's sad, but true.
