Ever make a mistake and not realize it 'til much later?

i started this idea because I noticed several friends i hadn't marked "notify on" I just thought they hadn't made a new post in a while. i fixed the problem and started to write this thread only to realize I had not added any "websites I regularly visit". Strangely enough it wasn't an oversight. i simply never figured I'd use the subject. when i realized I wanted a thread on Mylot I added a bunch of other sites. of course there are quite a few i use that aren't on the first 70 pages or so of sites. So I only have a sample of my favorite sites. Do you notice things like that that make you say "DOH!"? Like responding to a discussion from a friend only to realize the subject came to front when they picked a BR a year after the last response. No one was interested anymore but there I was typing away. Like now... Did you stop listening yet? I'll shut up now!

That reminds me, I forgot to mark your notification as on, I will do that when I am done here..As for replying to old discussions, I can't do that often, because I usually answer through my in box because I am on a windows 98 and it makes it very difficult to be active here unless I do that..Which leads me to what I do. I either repeat what someone said or the issue has been taken care of and the reason for that is, in my inbox, I can't view the whole discussion and I have contacted mylot a couple of times to see if they can send a link for the whole discussion, and not just for me to reply... and now that I have gone on and on, if I don't correct the notification on you, you won't hear from me anytime soon, because I rarely get a chance to view my friends discussions directly through mylot.

Wow, great info, thank you..As for getting a RAM chip, I would rather save up for a newer and better computer or see if I can get a used processor for my XP..(yeah, all I need to get my old computer back the way it was, is a processor) I also have a friend who gave me a link to see used computers, but would really rather get a processor for my own.. But, as for the Vista, in case I do go there, this Service Pack 1, that would make Vista good? As in also being able to watch videos? (I heard that video watching on Vista really sucks) The reason I asked, is because my neighbor got a vista and what she said is to not get vista home, but vista professional, a little more expensive, but worth it to not have a bad system..

Vista's biggest problem was that they hadn't gotten drivers and such to make older equipment and programs compatible. This resulted in the system crashing a lot when it ran into conflicts that it wasn't prepared for. Service pack 1 not only plugged some security issues but fixed a lot of the compatibility issues resulting in a lot fewer crashes. Ram chips can be as little as $20. Depending on needs it can be worth it to keep the machine usable a little longer but you can get newer computers at Wal*mart for as little as $300 or less. They won't come with things like a monitor or speakers but they will work with the ones from your old system to get you going. When I first bought my original system I didn't realize that the motherboard didn't have a processor. My brother found new ones on line for around $60. With an older computer you might be able to find something on e-bay you could use for cheap. You can also go to the Intel or AMD websites to find a replacement. Even if the machine is out of date I know Intel links to several distributors who not only sell their new stuff but also used or reconditioned older parts. it might save some money in getting a machine that works for you. I actually found a bare bones kit with the case, motherboard, chip and power source that I had sent to me for about $45 with shipping. I only needed the power source but at that price I got the spare parts for less than the cost of a reconditioned power unit from other vendors. With all that all you would have to do is drop your RAM Chips and drives into the new box and maybe add a modem or network card from your old box. on the other hand you could just take out the chip and put it into your old box with fewer compatibility issues.

I am notorious of going to a friend's profile page on a slow day & looking through Discussions I Started...then I find one that looks interesting & reply. As a matter of face I did that today. The discussion was 2 years old. I responded & I noticed that 2 other people responded after I did. I think you're actually doing your friend a favor as your response pulls it back to the forefront & reactivates that discussion. I had done this to a friend several months ago & it jump started his discussion & increased his pay on a day he was away. So he sent me a THANK YOU!!! So you done good Carl...even if you didn't mean to!!!

Thanks! I go to the list of "friends started" on occasion when I'm trying to catch up and I noticed that replies put those messages back at the head of the line so i figured it might encourage someone else to join me being late to the party. Some threads are really worth the second look. Louise has posted twice on "drive thru mastectomy" and the problem needs as much attention as it can get. Besides, sometimes the old discussions are more interesting then the newer ones. I don't even pay much attention to Louise' discussions on topics outside my interest. I visit them(briefly to keep out of the dog house)but I just skim and rate without posting. I know posts are golden but I'm not keen on posting to discussions I have little to say about. I'd rater find something the person wrote that I feel I can contribute to.
