sounds that you can't stand hearing

it maybe the sound of construction materials at work, the screech of chalk on a blackboard, the scrape of spoon/fork on your plate, your mother-in-law ranting or anything that makes you go crazy when you hear it. it's the faucet dripping for me, especially during the night when everybody else is asleep and the sound is amplified because of the silence. that's one sound i cannot stand. even though i'm groggy from sleep, if i hear its drip, i will get up and turn it tightly so i can get back to my sleep peacefully. how about you? what sounds drive you stir crazy?

Lol, good topic =) I work at KFC, and the noises that drive me crazy are the timers on the fryers going off. Such a loud beeping noise! And since we are a moderately busy store, we always have something in the deep fryer, whether it be chips, nuggets, popcorn chicken, etc, so it is going off basically every minute. And another noise at work I hate, is the timer going off for the chicken. Its this really loud hissing noise. So annoying! Both these noises just make me want to scream.

the first sound that comes to mind is that of jeepney, some years ago. the ones that had this shrieking "ahaaa-ahhaaaa-ahaahahaahaaa!!!" noise when the drivers blew their horns.

Metal against metal really grinds my teeth but also like the other night the battery got low in our smoke alarm and the alarm was making a single chirp noise like every 30 seconds and I finally had to get up and change the battery b/c it was keeping me awake. Hello, Kayedanda. There are different sounds who make different people get angry. Sounds that people will just start yelling when they hear it, so their voices may get louder than the sound and they stop hearing it. Sounds that makes people get away from where they are in the moment. Who has never seen a microphone doing that strange sound, which will make you feel that strange "pain"? And you see, even the person holding the microphone will hurry up and try to turn it down, because he cannot stand the sound either. The sound that makes me go crazy the most is the one very similar to the screech of chalk on a blackboard. It is the screech of a fork in the frying pan. Ouch, that screech really gets me. It sucks! Have you ever heard it before? Respectfully, Munhozmib.

I used to live in the city and it was very nosey. It got so bad I moved to a quieter area. The planes over head was really bad and annoying in the city, it used to wake me up. I suppose I would say city noise, but I hate that blackboard noise also. I hate the feeling of touching things (wet towels) more than than awful sounds.

unfortunately, we couldn't. hee hee. but anyways, yeah. the noise of the city is not a very appealing sound to hear first thing in the morning.

Sorry I mean 'noisey' not 'nosey'. Wish we could correct ourselves.

The sound of nails on a blackboard send a shiver up my spine and so does the sound of a metal shovel when it scrapes against concrete. Whenever I hear these noises it's as if my teeth start to tingle and I just can't stand it.

Hi You have already mentioned one of the sounds that irritates me. It's scape of spoon on one's plate. It really really drives me crazy. It affects me only mentally but also physically. If i hear such a sound, I need time to get back to normalcy!!! Another annoying sound is electric horns of cars. It seems my head will burst out. Oh god, I wonder how the drivers can tolerate such ear pinching sound.

they've gotten used to it it's like the normal everyday sounds that they hear which do not bother them. oh well, that's their job and it's a requirement that they can stand the sound of it every single day

I have two sounds. One and the most disturbing sound is the sound of my neighbor's old loud truck. He knows I sleep days and he is constantly in and out of his driveway all day long in this old truck, he never keep a vehicle running long so I will be happy when this one tears up. The second sound is the sound of my smoke alarm chirping. It chips when it get ready. I just take it down and take the battery out. I can't remember to buy a new battery. Got to get that done quickly.

I really dislike the sound of a ringing telephone. It is not because of who or what news might be at the other end, it is just the ringing sound. It doesn't even matter if the ring is a warble or music played on a cell phone. A ringing telephone of any kind really gets to me.

- snorring is bad - sound of boring Christian mass (but also other religions that have constant monotone masses :D - toilet sounds - as in sounds that come from the toilet when in use :) But by far the worst on this world I find to be the sound of whining. Male and female, young and old, when I hear even a hint of a whining tone in their voice I immediately announce them: NEXT! :D Due to your whining tone you have lost the right to talk for .. until the whining effect wears off :P

Screech of chalk on blackboard is still okay with me. I cannot stand the sound of a fork scratching the surface of a wall. Gross.

Water dripping from a faucette when you are trying to sleep, a clock that ticks loud and the the big one is your finger nails going down a black board that is the most annonying sound.

I can't stand the noise of someone eating chips with their mouths open, whenever someone does it I have to leave the room. One time I had to ride in the car with someone who was doing that and I gripped that stearing wheel so hard I knew that if I let go of that wheel I would be strangling that person eatin those chips!!! LOL. Thank God it wasn't a very long car ride...whew. It really angers me and I have never put my finger on why it does that maybe someday I will figure it out.

i dislike hearing the sound of someone munching their way through a bag of chips too. i know i hate it because i can do it with not much sound, out of politeness to those around me, so why can't these people do it?

Tapping sounds, toenail clippers, busy signals and just about anything repetative. I can't handle it. My step-mom is a ding-donger. She repeats things over and over and over again and follows you through the house still nagging about what she was ding donging about. It gets old! I don't like massagers, I have one of those ones that you sit in a chair at work and the vibrating noise is just horrible to me. I hate the sound that the tv makes when it gets turned on--it's like a high pitched static noise. Happy Mylotting!

I live in the country and love the quiet. If I go out to a crowded area or to another county where the traffic is much heavier, I get a bit irritated. I can't stand the sound of heavy traffic and therefore would never last in a place like New York City.

I think I can't stand the sounds of screech of chalk on a blackboard and also the faucet dripping, both are quite disturbing and unpleasant in the ear. Especially when at night where everyone is asleep and the faucet is dripping, totally unpleasant and disturbing. Kinda make me crazy hearing it.

The sounds that I don't like is when my neighbor are talking because they sounds that they are fighting. And the second sounds that I don't like is the honk of the cars or any vehicles, we lived in the city so I can always hear that noise. The third choice is water dripping from the tap and like you I can't sleep also at night if I can hear that, its annoying.
