Seems Iran isn't too happy with our little foray in to syria this week. The Grand Ayatollah 'Ali Khamanai (the real leader of Iran) was calling this week for a reponse that didn't involve diplomatic protests, but violence, also stating that "any nation that would not honor Iran's identity and independence would have its "hands cut off." http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1225199610409 So.....thoughts?

Xhahctor, This is nothing more than Iran's way to try and deflect attention away from their nuclear aspirations. We, the U.S., will be forced to deal with this country before too long. Either that or Iran will do it's best to make good on her promise to "wipe Israel off the face of the earth"!

Iran is certainly playing a dangerous game, I'm not sure why they keep coming up with such provocative statements, especially Amedinajad, but I suspect it is because they feel that they can get away with it as the US is involved in a war on two fronts, Afghanistan and Iraq and of course they have their own presidential election in March 09 so I suspect there is some 'political positioning to appeal to the masses' going on here. That said, it is a dangerous game and could well blow up in their faces - the US needs to keep its guard up regarding Iran but should also await the March 09 elections with interest - let's hope that the madman Amedinajad gets booted out and we might hopefully see an Iranian leadership that becomes more reasonable, though I woundn't necessarily bet the house on this!
