Has anyone tried using honey on your face? It is an anti bacterial and is supposed to be good for break outs in the facial area.

honey is good for your health. besides than what cynthiann had told, honey can be used as treatment for cold and flu. put a table spoon full of honey into a cup of warm milk, stir it and drink. it tastes good and it's good for your health. it's a russian tradition for curing cold and flu. try it~

Thank you all so much for your wonderful and informative responses. Yesterday, someone told me to use the honey for flu (as was suggested) however she told me to add a little rum to the mixture too! I think that rum would make the person feel quite happy but not sure of any benefical effects. I will definitely try this if I get flu this year! apologies for not responding earlier but sundays are hectic with church and my two year old grand twins that live with me. Have a wonderful week!

This discussion brought me to wikipedia. I'm glad because i've learned more about Honey. I know that honey never expires, that's why HONEY is a favorite term of endearment of lovers in love. I know that it can be a cure to cough and colds. I use honey to my cup of tea and pancakes too. But now i've learned how it's being classied, it's many many many uses and the precautions of it. Children that under one year of age should not be given honey because of the natural presence of Botulinum Endospores and can cause Botulism (paralytic illness, grows in the infant's intestines) And according to some beauty tips, honey can reduce skin pores and it's oilyness. Just don't leave it overnight for it would be a sticky mess

Wow rowenaa, thank you for this informtion. I hope that this is read by many mylotters as I didn't know that it should not be given to children under one year old. Imagine that it never expires! I would not keep it on overnight on my skin -it also would dirty the pillowcases on my bed! That's the beauty of this site - people respond with good informtion. Many thanks

Hi cynthiann! Welcome to mylot. I haven't try honey to put on my face or use it as facial. But I think it sounds great. Actually I like honey in green tea.

I drink honey in green tea too. I make a thermos full of green tea every morning and sip it throughout the day. Thanks for your warm welcome.

I've not heard about it being used for breakouts on the face, but I don't see why it would not work. In the tropics it's used to heal tropical ulcers.

I'm going to try this. Despite my age I still get break outs when stressed.
