Christmas. Are you ready?

So who out there is truly ready for christmas. Now that it is less than 2 months away, it seems there are more people out shopping. But with the economy the way it is how are we supposed to afford to get our children the things they want? I did a lot of my shopping for my son at least months ago when I had my stimulous check. Now I am lucky if I will be able to do any more for anyone else. We are barely making ends meet. And I know there are many others out there the same way. I know christmas is NOT about gifts, but a child waking up with nothing on christmas would be a shame. So how many of you are really ready for christmas? Have you already bought things? Will you be able to do what you did last year?

i'm ready but i dont have kids, i have 5 sisters and i bought local things for them at craft fairs and vendor fairs. a great way if you have kids is to swap with other parents in the area. get some of your child's toys that they dont play with any more, wash them up, and swap them with other parents. that way the toy is new to your child and the other person's child and you didn't spend a dime. same thing with clothes and other things you might not even consider.. find local parents on craigslist.org or maybe you know some parents in similar situations as you. my sister has done it with her friends since my nephew was born. all her friends had children around the same time and they swapped clothes/toys/bags etc so its all new to their kid but not hurting their pocketbook.

Thats a great idea. We have freecycle and I think I may just look into that.. Thank you and enjoy the holidays.

no problem, i'm always looking for ways to save money. craigslist also has some focus groups listed on there, i've done two and made 400 for an hour or two a day. it really helped out!
