I was watching the CNN election coverage last night and they had Will I. Am appear on the show via hologram. Did anyone see this? Who thought this was just plain amazing?

Maybe I'm in a minority, but I thought it was silly. It looked like old sci-fi, even though it's new real-life technology. The only advantage to it that I could see is that the people being "beamed in" from Chicago weren't surrounded by the crowd and the noise of the crowd. But other than that I don't see any reason that new networks should do this other than the good old fashioned way. And the idea of holograms in Walmart showing me around is frightening!

No I didn't sorry I missed it. I did hear though that it wasn't actually holograms after all. They were actually something called tomograms which are images that are captured from all sides, reconstructed by computers and then displayed onscreen. Holograms on the other hand are projected into space. The anchors were not three-dimensional projected images but empty space. Didn't mean to spoil it for you I'm sure it was still amazing.
