Do you think that universities do enough to prepare people for the real world, were you ready for the world of work when leaving? Does working part time or doing an intern help?

Yeah, i believed that school/universities could help students prepare their world. Like for instance if they undergo their On the job training in the said universities or they become a prominent student in the said. and when the school like their performance of course the school will gonna hire this potential students. Or students should try to apply in the said universities, why? i believed that most of the school prioritize their very own product.

College expands your mind and gives you skills to use in the real world. It's your job to be prepared for the real world. But, there are resources on campus you can utilize. For instance, make an appointment with the career center as soon as you get on campus. They will help you line up internships and part-time jobs in college and help you continue in school or land a job when you graduate. Take on responsibility in student activities. Serve as an RA. Get your own apartment. There are so many ways you can prepare for the real world.

University here is a very indulgent culture. You do learn to work under pressure and perhaps to deal with bills and housing concerns, but for the most part it's just one big social occasion. Lots of drinking and frivolity and not that much work for most people, until the deadlines for things come up. Most people I knew didn't work part-time either.

I feel that the universities in Canda prepare you for the real world pretty well. The classes themselves vary in what u will actually need to know to get by on day to day life. I dont think ill have to use any of the chemistry im learning no mater what field i go into, and very seldomly use the calculus i know. But my university offers alot of real world experience like co-op programs where we study and work for a company part time where we can actually appply our knowledge, or even help out some of the professors in their labs.

i think it does to a certain extent. for example in uni you learn how to work as part of a team, how to commuinicate with people and other important skills needed for life. but there are some things that cannot learn from a text book like empathy and being able to see somebody elses point of veiw. these lessons can only be learnt in 'the real world'. evethough this is the case, uni will be a very beneficial experince to you. many people say it was the best years of their lives! happy mylotting

In India, i dont think there are many colleges that prepare you for the real world. Most lecturers just spoon feed you with information and their main aim is getting you to pass your exams with good results so that the reputation of the college or university does not suffer. However there are yet another kind of teachers that hardly bother at all. Working part time during college or doing an internship helps a lot to prepare a person for the real working world out there.
