Today is Voting Day! Who Gets Your Vote?

If you are in the United States, what state are you in, and what positions / seats are you voting on today? I am in the state of Arkansas. In my town, we are voting for a new mayor today, as well as state representatives and senators. Also on the ballot we have to vote for a governor. I am voting to re-elect the current mayor, and am voting for the republicans on the rest of the choices. This isn't because I am a republican, but because in my case, all the republican candidates seem to have the better idea on the issues at hand.

I'm in VA, but haven't been here long enough to feel informed enough to vote on their reps. I am generally not informed enough to vote in any state right now for that matter, :) but for that reason, I do not cast my vote. Why should I have an influence on something I am not informed about?

I do see your point there. Otherwise you would just be casting a vote for whomever you happen to put a mark by, or whomever you happen to touch on a screen. So I can see why you would not vote. So for me, I would just encourage you to get informed, and then go out and vote. We really take for granted the fact that we have a completely free voice and choice on who our leaders are, for local, state, and national government. That main problem is what you talk about, not being informed. So I just try to encourage everyone to learn about candidates and issues, and go cast a vote. Our government will only operate as good as the people we put in office. Thanks for your response!

Glad to know that you are voting for and against something! I just got back from voting, and there was quite a long line. While talking to people who were complaining about the situation, I reminded them all that we should be glad we have the opportunity to wait in a long line and vote.
